Valerie Galbraith, LMHC
Valerie works primarily with adult individuals and couples, including college-age and graduate students, though she also is willing to see older adolescents on a case-by-case basis. Valerie collaborates with her clients to address relational issues like communication and other difficulties in their lives due to stress, depression, anxiety, or past trauma or abuse. In her counseling practice, Valerie has helped facilitate the healing of individuals and of relationships.
Valerie strives to provide the best counseling she can to every client that comes into her office, with empathy and without judgment. She genuinely cares for the people she sees, giving them a calm and welcoming space in which to open up and discover ways to improve their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Her greatest desire in providing counseling and therapy services is to optimize people’s functioning so they can lead happy, successful lives.
With all of her clients, Valerie works to improve coping and communication skills, and to deepen their awareness and understanding of themselves and the challenges they face. In marriage counseling especially, she uses attachment-focused techniques to lead couples to rediscover the bond that drew them together to begin with and restore the intimacy in their relationship through an increase in emotional connection.
